The secret highlight of the Rheingau Gourmet & Wine Festival:
“House and kitchen party” at the Hotel Kronenschlösschen

Eltville, March 10, 2019

The event is supposed to start at 7pm. But we arrived a bit earlier (to shoot some of the nice mood pictures below for you guys). Immediately when we enter the beautiful Hotel Kronenschlösschen in Eltville, we can sense the high level of excitement in the room. Everything has been prepared since hours and even days. Great wines in the coolers all over the place. Michelin Star chefs everywhere getting ready with their fantastic teams. It is still silent, but full of super contagious energy.

It is the secret highlight of the so-called Rheingau Gourmet & Wine Festival. Two amazing weeks in the beautiful Rhine region of Germany. Some of the best German Rieslings come from here. And they are all celebrated in this great event. Together with the best chefs in the haute cuisine from Germany and its neighbor countries. The two weeks consist of high-end wine tastings, unbelievable cooking and a lot of love and celebration of finest taste and the good life.

Imagine the night when this two-week-event comes to an end. Sommeliers, chefs and everyone in the staff is ready to party. Everyone has worked hard – not only today, but also for the last weeks. It is the mobilization of the last sources of power and energy – because they know: what happens today will be a special night.

And then the party guests arrive. Roughly 400 people – a great mixture of winemakers, chefs, guests from all over the country and people who just want to have a good time. Very quickly, the crowd becomes a highly energetic swarm. The entire place is open for the visitors. Kitchens, restaurants and lounges. Everyone spreads out to seek for the gourmet attractions. They are everywhere. In several parts of the building, the best chefs present their creations.

You want examples? Here we go: Sebastian Zier and Moses Ceylan from two Michelin Star restaurant Einstein in St. Gallen, Switzerland offer a brilliant duck liver. Hubert Obendorfer from one Michelin Star restaurant Birkenhof has a super delicious salmon to offer. Andre Großfeld from one Michelin Star restaurant Villa Merton in Frankfurt serves a perfect Skrei with rhubarb. Rolf Straubinger from one Michelin Star restaurant Burg Staufeneck wins the race with a wicked dry-aged beef roulade.

It is not just outstanding food. The truth is: You can have as much of it as you like. The ultimate Michelin-All-You-Can-Eat. In every corner of the room, high-end wineries offer their wines. A true happy-place for any Riesling lover. We had young and fresh Kabinetts from the Moselle region, aged dry Grand Crus from the Rheingau and perfect Auslese wines from the early 1990s. Just a great experience. In addition, delicious Pinots are served, Champagnes and rare specialties from Austria and Italy.

You immediately get drawn into nice conversations. About the wines. About the food you’re experiencing. What was your favorite dish? Why that one? What wine do you have in your glass? From what vintage? You can’t get lost here. It is no place where you will ever feel alone.

If you ever search for a great experience in good wine and outstanding food this is the place where you should go.
